Palliative care centers

Palliative care centers

These independent centers or hospitals offer palliative care for persons with terminal illnesses, regardless of age or gender. Palliative care aims to provide patients with comfort and dignity at the end of their lives, and to improve quality of life for patients and their families. Palliative care provides:

  • relief from pain and other symptoms
  • social, psychological and spiritual support
  • assistance to informal caregivers
  • support for families coping with bereavement

Palliative care sometimes includes caregiver education and training, research, patient monitoring and advocacy.
